Difference between noninvasive and invasive blood pressure monitoring

There are two different blood pressure monitoring methods, one is noninvasive blood monitoring and another is noninvasive blood pressure monitoring. What is the principle of noninvasive blood pressure monitoring and invasive blood pressure monitoring? What’s the difference between them? What measurement methods should hospitals use?

Non-invasive blood pressure is a method that indirectly measures human blood pressure. It adopts pulse vibration method. The pressure sensor is connected to the shaft belt to detect the pressure of the shaft belt and the vibration signal formed by the pulse under the action of the shaft belt pressure. When starting to measure blood pressure, the air pump inflates the shaft belt, the pressure reaches the preset pressure value and stops inflating, the air in the shaft belt is slowly deflated through the air release valve, and the pressure decreases accordingly. At the time, the pressure value and the amplitude of pulse vibration is calculated continuously. The amplitude is from small to large. The pressure index corresponding to the maximum rising rate of change is systolic pressure. When the amplitude exceeds the maximum point, it begins to decrease. The index corresponding to the maximum falling rate of change is diastolic pressure. The average pressure is measured as the pressure index at the maximum vibration amplitude or the sum of diastolic pressure multiplied by 2 plus systolic pressure divided by 3.

Therefore, it uses air as a medium to measure the pressure of blood, so it is subject to great external interference factors. There is a certain gap between the blood pressure measured by various non-invasive blood pressure measurement methods and the real blood pressure value of the human body.

The invasive pressure transducer is used for timely monitoring of blood pressure in major operations or critically ill patients. One end is directly connected to the human blood vessel, and the blood pressure is transmitted to the sensor chip through the pressure extension tube. The chip transfers this physiological pressure (mechanical pressure). It is converted into electrical energy signal, and then converted into an intuitive waveform symbol through the IBP module on the monitor, so that the doctor can know the patient’s condition at any time according to the blood pressure change.

Compared with non-invasive pressure sensors, the measurement values of invasive pressure sensors are more accurate, but the operation is also more complicated. The main brands of invasive pressure sensors are Omron, Yuwell, etc. The main brands of invasive blood transducer are Edwards and ICU. The China brand Antmed are also widely praised, and their market share is gradually increasing. Antmed IBP transducer used the MEAS High sensitivity chip, and high-quality material components such as flush valve which is imported from Israel. At the same time, this product is 100% factory inspected, which ensures the stability of quality.

In terms of use, patients should choose the appropriate blood pressure monitoring method according to the doctor’s protocol, so as not to delay in diagnosis and treatment.
