Low Dead Space 1mL Luer-lock Vaccine Syringe Introduction

In 2020, due to the widespread of the new coronavirus epidemic, people’s normal lives have been seriously affected. Almost 7 billion people in the world need to be vaccinated against the new virus. The entire vaccine market is now in short supply. Many people are unable to get the new covid-19 vaccine for months.

Not only the vaccine is under short supply, the vaccine syringe market is also in shortage. Almost all the distributors’ online platforms have soldout 1ml luer lock syringe. Currrently, there are two types of syringes on the global market: luer-lock and luer-slip tip syringes. Although the exterior design of the vaccine syringes produced by each manufacturer is almost the same, the internal design of the syringes is quite different. The major difference is the residue of medicine in the syringe.

Under such condition, how to extract more doses in one single vaccine bottle and benefit more patients is an urgent problem to medical professionals and vaccine companies. The entire medical community has shifted attention to this issue. Medical professionals want to find low dead space needles or syringes substitute to solve this issue. In addition to Covid-19 vaccines, antibiotics, hormones, anti-neovascular and enzymatic vitreous analysis drugs doses are only 0.03 to 0.1ml. However, the smallest-dose of disposable syringe (with an interchangeable needle) on the market is 1ml. It leaves some medicine waste in the syringes.

Antmed provides low dead space (LDS) needles for Covid-19 vaccinations. Our low dead space (LDS) needle is designed to reduce the effective space left behind in the needle hub as close to zero and is potentially able to retrieve a sixth dose of its mRNA vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech vials. This design minimizes product loss which leads to significant product savings. Especially when injecting high cost drugs or precious medicines like Covid-19 vaccines.

Antmed currently provides 3 major types of needles for our 1ml luer lock syringes.

23G x 1’’—the blue hub one (standard);
25G x 1’’—the orange hub one (standard);
25G x 1’’—the orange hub one with low dead space.
